Rwanda Kanzu Natural Lot #3

We are excited to present another stellar Rwandan coffee from the Kanzu washing station as you may remember from two years back. Instead this year we have elected to bring on a natural process coffee instead of a washed coffee to emphasize a big burst of fruit!
Kanzu washing station works with more than 535 farmers who have extensive experience and training in growing high quality coffee. As a hub for producers, Kanzu has also netted certifications from international programs like the Rainforest Alliance. With these coffees coming from around the area near Lake Kivu and the Nyungwe National Forest, the region’s biodiversity and microclimate lend many positive characteristics to this lot’s outstanding complexity and expressive flavors.
We are pleased to share that this is a pretty exciting coffee. Right off the bat this coffee’s aroma and flavor remind us of blue raspberry Warheads in all the right ways; emphasizing the fruity, fermented quality of natural process coffees. The zippy acid intermingles with a richness that lingers with a great aftertaste. As the coffee cools the initial shock transforms into a more easy-going and deep palate of vanilla cream and aged rum, leaving you with something memorable. This is a great morning cup if you need to put pep in your step, or we might recommend leaning into experimenting with this coffee as a pourover (perhaps an Origami Dripper) and tracking your own tasting notes.
